Based off the chilling and captivating Old Gods of Appalachia podcast by Steve Shell and Cam Collins and published by Monte Cook Games, this upcoming eldritch horror RPG allows you to explore Alternative Appalachia… And all the old horrors locked away within one of the most ancient mountain ranges in the world. You see, these mountains are a prison, meant to contain all that would drive this world mad and taint the light above.
This prison grows weak though, and as time and the influence of man begin to break the ranges open like a dog gnawing at a bone for it’s marrow, these horrors begin to walk the world once more. It’s up to you and those you travel with to uncover the secrets of Appalachia, know the unknowable, and protect what matters most. Family, be it of blood or coven.
Based off the simple and narrative driven Cypher system, Old Gods of Appalachia is easy to run, fun to play, and above all… Horrifying to explore. Will you be a Yarn Weaving healer, a small town yet charming Preacher or the Miner that delved too deep into the dark? Can you outrun the Hounds, servants of The Low Things whose every limb are covered in writhing eyes and whose mouths loose howls so hellish that they freeze the soul and cause you to gasp for breath? Dare you explore the deep places of the world where man’s touch is but a tickle to beings so old and vast that they make even the most ancient of societies quiver in fear?
